Fertile soils are both a source of raw materials and food, a reservoir for nutrients, water, and greenhouse gases, and a habitat all at once. However, soil protection receives little attention in the broader public discourse, despite the fact that we are losing more and more soil worldwide. 

This animation aims to raise awareness about soil protection by playfully illustrating the process of soil formation and demonstrating that soil is a complex system made up of mineral and organic substances as well as organisms.
